National Conference on Global History and International Relations in the 20th and 21st Centuries

Regarded as a new approach to the study of the past, global history has increasingly established itself internationally as a perspective on world history that is less closely tied to traditional models of modernity and more firmly grounded in the complex phenomena that have shaped the 20th and 21st centuries.

By focusing on processes that simultaneously transcend and connect regions, nations, and civilizations, global history emphasizes comparisons, connections, and processes of global integration. Applying this perspective to the history of international relations represents an interdisciplinary endeavour and an attempt to reconsider academic discourse in a field encompassing the development of colonialism, imperialism, nationalism, international relations, ideologies, migration, industrialization, warfare, and the North–“Global South” divide, among other phenomena.

Building on the experience of the first edition held last year, the Centre for Euro-Atlantic Studies “Prof. Univ. Dr. Constantin Bușe”, within the Faculty of History of the University of Bucharest, proposes a new edition of the conference, inviting Romanian researchers in the fields of history and international relations to participate in a high-level academic debate open to current international perspectives.

The conference aims to bring together the research methods and analytical tools required in this field, creating opportunities for methodological innovation within Romanian scholarship in this emerging area of scientific inquiry.

The conference will include a SPECIAL SECTION dedicated to young researchers, including master’s and doctoral students, who will have the opportunity to present their research findings and academic topics of interest in the field.
