Euro-Atlantic Studies (EAS) is an academic, peer-reviewed, and open-access journal published by the Centre for Euro-Atlantic Studies “Prof. Univ. Dr. Constantin Bușe” of the University of Bucharest. Founded in 1998, the journal aims to make recent academic research in International Relations available to the scientific community and the general public.
The journal publishes original research and scholarly contributions on International Relations, History, European and Euro-Atlantic affairs, Global History, Social Sciences, and interdisciplinary research. It provides a forum for academic research and debate on the historical and contemporary processes that have shaped international relations and the international system.
Euro-Atlantic Studies is an open-access journal and does not charge authors any publication or article processing fees. All submitted research manuscripts undergo an editorial assessment followed by external peer review. The journal uses a double-blind peer-review procedure, ensuring that authors’ and reviewers’ identities remain undisclosed throughout the review process.
Frequency: The journal publishes annually, with one issue released each year on November 30.
The journal accepts contributions in English and requires them to be original and unpublished. Research articles include an abstract and keywords, and references and bibliographies follow the Chicago citation style. The journal also publishes book reviews.
All content published in Euro-Atlantic Studies is made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA) license. The journal’s content is openly accessible online, and the journal is archived in the Legal Repository of the National Library of Romania.

Special Issues – Editorial and Peer Review Policy
Euro-Atlantic Studies, New Series may occasionally publish special issues devoted to specific themes, research topics, anniversaries, conferences, or emerging areas of scholarly interest relevant to the journal’s scope.
1. Proposal and Selection of Special Issues
Members of the academic community may submit proposals for special issues, or the Editorial Team of Euro-Atlantic Studies may initiate them.
Each proposal is assessed by the Editorial Team in accordance with the journal’s academic scope, editorial standards, and publication policy. The proposed topic must be relevant to the journal’s aims and scope and provide a coherent scholarly framework for the contributions included in the special issue.
The Editorial Team may appoint one or more Guest Editors with appropriate academic expertise in the subject of the proposed special issue. Guest Editors are selected on the basis of their scholarly expertise, research experience, academic reputation, and familiarity with the topic of the special issue.
The appointment of Guest Editors is subject to approval by the Editorial Team of Euro-Atlantic Studies.
2. Submission and Peer Review of Articles
Articles submitted for publication in a special issue are subject to the same editorial and peer-review standards as articles submitted for regular issues of the journal.
All submissions undergo an initial editorial assessment to determine whether they fall within the scope of the journal and meet the basic requirements for scholarly publication.
Articles that pass the initial assessment are submitted to external peer review. The journal uses a double-blind peer-review procedure, in which authors and reviewers do not disclose each other’s identities.
Guest Editors may coordinate the peer-review process for submissions to the special issue. However, Guest Editors must ensure that all submissions are evaluated according to the journal’s established peer-review standards and ethical requirements.
Guest Editors do not make the final publication decision on their own submissions or on submissions where a conflict of interest exists. A member of the Editorial Team without a conflict of interest handles such manuscripts independently.
3. Final Decision on Publication
The Guest Editors recommend acceptance, revision, or rejection of submissions. However, the final decision regarding the publication of each article rests with the Editorial Team of Euro-Atlantic Studies, in accordance with the journal’s peer-review policy and editorial standards.
Acceptance for inclusion in a special issue does not guarantee publication. All articles must successfully complete the journal’s editorial and peer-review process before a final publication decision is made.
The Editor-in-Chief or another designated member of the Editorial Team has the authority to make the final publication decision, taking into consideration the peer-review reports, the Guest Editors’ recommendations, and the journal’s academic and ethical standards.
4. Editorial Independence and Conflicts of Interest
Guest Editors and members of the Editorial Team must disclose and appropriately manage any potential conflicts of interest.
Editorial decisions are based on the academic quality, originality, relevance, and scholarly contribution of the submitted manuscript and are not influenced by the identity, institutional affiliation, nationality, gender, or personal circumstances of the authors.
The same editorial and ethical standards apply to articles published in special issues and in regular issues of Euro-Atlantic Studies.
